Justin Hines named chief corporate relations officer for UW–Madison College of Computing & Artificial Intelligence
Hines brings nearly 20 years of experience in business development across the technology, marketing, consumer products, and education sectors.
Justin Hines has been named the inaugural chief corporate relations officer for the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Computing & Artificial Intelligence (CAI).
In this role, Hines will lead CAI’s corporate relations strategy, building long-term partnerships with industry that advance the college’s priorities in research, education, and innovation. He will oversee the college’s most significant corporate relationships, identifying opportunities for large-scale collaboration and securing major investments that support CAI’s long-term growth.
“Justin has already played an important role in securing corporate support for the launch of our college and brings the experience and relationships to help us build on that foundation,” Founding Dean Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau said. “I’m excited about the potential to connect our faculty and students with industry partners in ways that advance research, create new opportunities for students, and benefit both the university and our partners.”
Hines brings nearly 20 years of experience in business development across the technology, marketing, consumer products, and education sectors, including a decade in corporate relations at UW–Madison. He previously led corporate relations for UW–Madison’s College of Engineering for six years and joined CAI’s predecessor, the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS), in 2022.
During his time at CDIS, Hines helped secure significant corporate investments, including landmark gifts supporting the establishment of the new college. He also expanded employer engagement and experiential learning opportunities for students and developed new research collaborations and sources of corporate funding.

“The strongest partnerships … bring together companies that see our students as future leaders, our faculty as partners in innovation, and our college as a place worth investing in for the long term.”
“The strongest partnerships go well beyond a single project or investment,” Hines said. “They bring together companies that see our students as future leaders, our faculty as partners in innovation, and our college as a place worth investing in for the long term. I’m excited to build relationships that create meaningful opportunities on both sides and grow alongside the college.”
Hines earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Colorado State University and is an active member of the Network of Academic Corporate Relations Officers (NACRO).
Outside of work, Hines enjoys traveling with his family and cheering on his daughters in their activities.
